windows 10

Windows 10 can be downloaded as an .iso file and installed without activation. However you cannot use things like customization etc. These are annoying but not vital so for testing windows and browsers or development just don't activate.

If activation is really needed you can use a method described later on in this chapter.

creating a windows10 usb

For virtualbox you can just mount the iso file and you are done, for hardware you need a dvd or usb stick. For this just dd it onto the stick does not seem to work.

I tried the dd method but it was on a stick that was too small, so this might still just work !?!

In any case this next method did work, so i mention in it anyway :

visit

This is the general guide but probably the creation of woeUSB fails so here is the main site :

visit

And still that won't work until you follow this thread : visit

tldr; You need to add these lines to the debian/rules file :

debian/rules
override_dh_shlibdeps:
    dh_shlibdeps --dpkg-shlibdeps-params=--ignore-missing-info

This is a makefile rule so there is a tab in front of the second line, not spaces.

activating windows 10

I installed it for moehur and it seems your windows7 key just works for windows 10. At least it reported windows as activated so that's seems to be solved.

However my VBox install had to be activated differently, so the best way to do that is to use kmspico : visit

The main idea of this is that they install a small a small KMS service that handles the activation instead of the main Microsoft server. The links provided in that article seem to be clean.

When i downloaded a version via bittorent i immediately got a virus. The tool itself is very popular for virus makers because you need to deactivate the windows security to make it work. And though the program itself is not dirty, people use it to bundle it with all kinds of crap because you will open up the windows scanner for them.

So at least scan what you download before unzipping/running it.

free windows 10

According to pages like here : visit you can use windows for free with minor annoyances like no background image, the activation message etc. Here is how i installed the windows 10 VM on hoek and also a place to monitor how it holds up during use.

  • Virtualbox is expected to be installed
  • The windows image was taken from microsoft : visit
  • Install the vm by choosing the .iso downloaded from this link.
  • Skip activation by stating "i don't have an activation key"

Now you get a clear screen for 1 month (i suspect) and after that some shortcoming come into action, like the message on the desktop. But as far as taken from the internet nothing that stops you from working 'normal' with windows.

I also installed visual studio community edition, monitor how that performs as well.
